Lights destroyed

28 December 2000

The Wyke Area team allocated about £200 for a Christmas tree with lights for the Park Avenue fountain site. It was to stay over Christmas, with lights coming on from 4 pm to 1 am every day.

The tree and its lights lasted from 19 December, until sometime in the early morning of 22 December, when someone cut down the tree and systematically destroyed the lights.

Our thanks to the Wyke Area team for their efforts and initiative, also to Grace Richardson, of Park Avenue, whose idea it was to have a Christmas tree there.
