YES! Park Avenue will get its fountain back!

Many thanks to the Fountain Rescue Team: Harry Atkinson, Martyn Chalk and Alan Worsley for their ideas, enthusiasm, hard work, and lobbying.

We must also thank the Wyke Area councillors (in particular Councillors Simone Butterworth and John Robinson) for moving this issue forward, and we also want to thank Councillor Doyle for his interest and prompt response to our letters.

The Wyke Area Committee agreed that work to restore the Park Avenue fountain should go ahead! Work would take about 20 weeks, and that a completion date was expected in April/May 2001.

May 2001: The Wyke Area office confirms that the fountain is ready, a replica of the one in Westbourne Avenue. Installation is to be Wednesday, 23 May. The Avenues Residents Association is organising an official celebration of its restoration on Saturday morning, 26 May, 11.00 am, at the site.
