My art practice addresses vulnerability and the fragile existence of all life forms. This also extends metaphorically to the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the human condition. It is the physically beautiful which appear to be particularly susceptible and man throughout history has devised methods of capture and control which are not only cruel but ironically, destroy those inner qualities which were initially the important aspects of desire.

The animals and organic matter which are suggested in my work are frequently encased and it is this enclosure which refers to the systems both physical and emotional which restrain the body and spirit.

My work also suggests those irrational dreams, conflicts and desires which lie just beneath the surface of everyday life; but are powerfully potent and frighteningly destructive.

"These art works...explore the colours,
tastes and smells of India.
A sensory response to what is
mundane in India but immediate
and intoxicating to a Westerner"
